2016 Men’s & Women’s Club Championship Results

Congratulations to Shelly Pinkerton and Austin Barbin, Chesapeake Bay Golf Club’s 2016 Club Champions! This year’s Club Championship was held August 13-14, 2016 at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club’s Rising Sun Course. We want to thank all of our participants and congratulate each of the winners in the A, B & C Flights: Joan Martin (A), Larry Steward (A), Frank Orbin (B) and Frank Cortazzo (C).

Round Highlights

Men’s Championship Flight:

In Round one, 15 year old Austin Barbin shot a 5 under par 30 on his front nine and left his putt for a 29 on the 9th Hole just 3 inches short. He proceeded to birdie Hole #10 to go 6 under par through 10. Austin had 4 Birdies and 2 Eagles for the day – holing out on the par 4 Hole #4 from 30 yards, and making a 70 ft Eagle Putt on the 18th Hole to finish the round at 3 under par – 68.

17 year old Zach Barbin had an amazing 5 Birdies during his 2nd Round shooting a 2 under par 34 on his back nine to finish at a solid even par for the day – 71.

Earl Mitchell’s second round was highlighted by shooting a 2 under par 33 on his front nine – with an interesting scorecard shooting all 3’s on his 1st five holes. Earl’s solid front nine combined with his 47 on the back clinched his spot for 3rd place.

Women’s Championship Flight:

Shelly Pinkerton won the Women’s Championship Flight handily with a solid 5 shot lead over Susan Eichler and Bernie Week who battled for 2nd place. All brought their best games on Sunday, but it was Shelly’s 85 that solidified her win.
