The Art of Music

You’ve spent so much time and money on your wedding on flowers, food, cake, and the venue, you want to make sure your guests have an amazing time. The music you choose and the DJ or Band you choose will play a big part in whether or not your guests enjoy themselves. Here are a few tips on how to make sure you make the right music decisions for your wedding.

Include Your Guests on Special Dances.

When you have your father/daughter dance or mother/son dance, you don’t have to be up there all alone for the entire song.  Have other fathers and daughters and mothers and sons join you after the first minute or so of the song.

Keep People on the Dance Floor.

You want to keep people up on the dance floor throughout your reception.  The best way to do this is by having a very interactive DJ and or Band.  You want them to keep the crowd going and keep the energy upbeat.

Don’t Get Caught Up In One Era Of Music.

Whether you love the hair bands of the 80’s or if you are all hung up on the Beatles from the 60’s, make sure you have your DJ play a wide spectrum of music.  You want to make all of you guests feel welcome from the younger generation to the older generation.

Space is Important.

When choosing the type of music for your wedding, think about the space you are in.  For instance if you are at an outside venue, make sure your musicians are amplified to keep other noises from drowning them out.  If you are at an inside venue think about the acoustics and placement of speakers.  You don’t want to blow your guests eardrums who are sitting near the speakers so your guests in the back can hear the music.

Dance Trends.

With so many dance trends there are always going to be people who like certain ones and not others.  Depending on the guests you have at your wedding some dance trends may go over very well and others not so much.  The Electric Slide is a popular line dance and if you know that your aunts love to do this dance every time they go out, include it in your song list.  However if the Macarena is one that your future mother-in-law just can’t stand then you may want to leave that one out.

All the work you have done to make your wedding day memorable, remember music is what sets the stage for your guests to have a great time and that’s the memories they will have.
